All percentage grades are converted to decimal grades based on a conversion scale. You are encouraged to frequently check your grades in Blackboard.

QUIZZES:

bullet

Chapter quizzes will be posted in Blackboard. All quizzes are open book.

bulletEach quiz consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Each question has one correct answer.
bullet

Quizzes will be taken outside of class. You may take the quiz at any time during the week the reading is assigned. Quizzes will expire on Sunday at midnight.

bulletYou will have 20 minutes to complete each quiz. While you will be notified of the time remaining, Blackboard will not automatically stop and submit your quiz. You are responsible for stopping on time. Quizzes may not be retaken.

Note: The Blackboard server does go down occasionally. If you take your quiz early and encounter difficulties, there will be time to resolve them. If you wait until the last minute, you do so at your own risk.

ASSIGNMENTS:

bulletDuring the quarter, you will have four project milestones and two individual assignments. All assignments and milestones must be submitted before the beginning of class on the date due. Late assignments will not be accepted.
bulletMilestone projects will be completed in project teams consisting of three students. Each student will be the project manager for at least one milestone.
bullet

Assignments should follow all guidelines. Review these carefully before turning your assignment in.

FORUM:

bulletParticipation in the Blackboard discussion forum is an important component of this course. Discussions will center around the Design Patterns text.

bulletRespond to the weekly discussion topic(s) and reply to at least one of your classmates by midnight on Friday of each week. (Note:  Although posts won't be "due" until Friday, you are encouraged to post early in the week so that there is more opportunity for discussion.)

bullet

Posts must be thoughtful and substantive to receive full credit. Your original post will count for 10 points per week, and your reply will count for 5.

HOMEWORK::

bullet"Homework" consists of small take-home exercises that we may begin these in class. What you don't finish in class, you will take home and complete.
bullet Most homework will be posted in Blackboard under "Assignments."

POLICIES:

bullet

I do not condone academic dishonesty in any form. Penalties for plagiarized work will range from a zero for the assignment to a zero for the course. If you are unclear about what constitutes plagiarism, ask!

bullet

Cell phones and pagers must be turned off while in the classroom.

bullet

Do not use computers during lecture unless you are taking notes. During class, computers are to be used only for course-related work, not for checking email, playing games or surfing the Web. These activities are distracting to your classmates and disrespectful to me.
