Dear Portfolio Committee,
I would like to introduce about my self: I have been here for a year and 2
months. When I was 19 years old, I came to the United State of America. I
wanted to learn English skills, and to get a degree in social work, here.
I need to take Writing 101 and Writing 105 while I’m student here in
the United States of America.
English is a second language for me. I have learned English since when I was junior high school student. However, my teachers were not American, also they were Japanese. They taught me grammar and reading, but it wasn’t college level in the United State. That’s why I didn’t know how to write essay at the college level. The best method is to read a book, summarize, and to imagine of picture, that is critical thinking. I don’t have an imagination, when I look at a picture or advertising, so they were very difficult. But that stuff, and also FECCCL were very helpful.
I have had my weaknesses; that are Creative Risk, Complexity
and Linguistic Maturity. I didn’t know how to use commas, I have some
“It” disease, and fragmented grammar. If I write an essay without
these, readers may have difficulty understanding my essay, but I getting better
little by little. So you will see improvement in my essay. On the other hand,
I have good evidences from media on my essay. That is really important at
the college level writing.
Sincerely,
M.S
