Welcome
The Speech Department at Highline Community College was recognized by the Western States Communication Association in 2003 as the Outstanding Community College Communication Program in the West.
In the Speech Department, highly qualified, creative, and talented instructors coach students to develop and use competent intrapersonal, interpersonal, group process, and public communication skills.
We continually develop and revise our introductory communication course, as well as specific specialized courses. We also provide students with opportunities to
develop rich and varied real-life communication skills.
Communication Competence in the Workplace Certificate
Highline's newest certificate, Communication Competence in the Workplace is an opportunity to become a skilled communicator in the marketplace through completing four Speech classes.
Conversation Cafe
In conjunction with the Honors Scholar Program and Phi Theta Kappa, the Conversation Cafes are coordinated with Speech students to discover, engage, and support immigran voices, build lasting connections, and create opportunities to share perspectives within a global context on a range of issues across our campus community. The Speech Department developed the Public Speaking and Delivery video for use in any class to help you with preparing for a speech or presentation.
