Submitting a paper via e-mail?

  1. Write your paper in MS Word and save it as a doc file (that's the default).

    {If you don't have MS Word, you may use whatever program you'd like.  To read my comments, you must have MS Word Viewer.  It's free and available for download here.}

  2. Address an e-mail to me (sfrantz@highline.edu) and attach your saved file.  [If you have a question that needs a quick response, it's better to send it in a separate e-mail with a different subject line.]

  3. Papers (with a doc extension) sent to me via e-mail will be graded electronically and sent back as an e-mail attachment.

  4. Save the attachment to your computer, then open it in MS Word.

  5. My comments should appear automatically, and look something like this:

  1. If the comments are too small for you to read, mouse over the highlighted areas to get a pop up box.

If you don't see something like this, then we need to troubleshoot.

  1. You may need to change some settings.  Go to "View" then select "Markup".

  1. If that doesn't do it, then right click anywhere in the empty space near the tool bars at the top of the page, and select "reviewing".  This will add the "reviewing" tool bar underneath your other toolbars.

  1. In the reviewing toolbar, click "Show" and make sure the following are selected.

  1. Did that solve it?  If not, drop me an e-mail!
