Draft ..Academic Probation/Suspension Policy:
Discussion with Gwen and Robert concerning the "system's" ability to support the proposal. Issues of monitoring student registration; limiting number of credits of enrollment; informing students and advisors, etc. were the major topics of interest.

Action: Members unanimously approved a proposal (attached) which will be sent to the appropriate college groups for approval.

Future agenda items -

1. W/WI Grades

    1. How many withdrawals should a student be allowed?
    2. At what point in the quarter should a student be able to withdraw?
    3. At what point should an instructor be able to unilaterally withdraw a student?
    4. Is there a reason to have a separte W/WI grade?
    5. Should we require a faculty signature?

Dick, Mike A., and Bob will form a subcommittee to draft a proposal. Helen will be available as a committee resource.

  1. Instructional Council
    1. What is the role of the Instructional Council?
    2. What does course approval imply i.e. catalog inclusion, distribution requirement, etc.?
    3. What is the role of the Senate in mediation between departments/divisions in conflict over determining whether or not a particular course meets a distribution requirement?
