Inquired about the status of the faculty forum.
Discussion of isssues concerning the errors in the new catalog: Need for a process to ensure changes are included; Phil's 10/26 email to Dr. Bermingham regarding errors in the grading section (forwarded to all members); Jeff Wagnitz' comments regarding the effort underway to redesign the catalog and other campus documents, the new catalog that will be out in Spring, the work underway on a process to ensure changes aren't left out; consideration for the legal implication of misinformation; incorrect calendar, etc. General corrections should be sent to Jeff.
Academic Probation/Suspension Draft Discussion:
Discussion centered around the following issues/questions: number of credits students on probation should be limited to; degree of control the College has over the limits placed on credits students can take; the consideration of the number of drops a students can have within a given period of time; the G.P.A. threshold a student would need to "hold" the suspension process; the appropriate role of faculty advisors.
Agreed that conclusion on a policy will require more discussion and should not be rushed. The subcommittee will work on a revised draft for our next meeting.
Pat Phillips, Secretary
