FACTC Report: On-Line Courses ( 6,000 enrollment for WAOL; less than 200 for Western Governors' University). High School Certificate of Mastery ( does not replace graduation but required for graduation; can be acquired junior year; should it be a prerequisite for college admission - future discussion). Direct Transcription for Tech-Prep Courses ( high school credits directly transfer into college occupational programs; before, a retroactive process after first year of college; now, upfront transfer; universities saying no). FACTC FOCUS coming out soon.

Allison:

Requested a Senate-sponsored Faculty Forum to discuss problems around cross-disciplinary courses. What does it mean to be interdisciplinary? Senate agreed to host a forum to address staffing issues, control of CAF's, resolution of interdivisional disagreements, control of courses, transfer issues, etc.

Gwen:

Commented on the preliminary proposals for changing the academic standards policies. Discussion focused on problems with the proposals, reports from division senators on feedback from instructors, research on successful practices, consistency with the new catalog, effects on number of students affected, the nature of intervention and response from college advisors and resources, the institutional retention program, etc.

Agreed to form a subcommittee to work on a new proposal. Members are Mike Cicero, Eric Baer and Gwen Spencer who will report back at our next meeting.
