Sherri Chun - BTECH Instructor

I come to Highline after 13 years of working in high-technology marketing, sales, and consulting.  I’m a graduate of the University of Washington (BA, MBA – Go Dawgs!), and make my home in the Seattle area.  My first job was picking raspberries for a local farmer in the Puyallup valley, a job which lasted all of two weeks.  After realizing that agriculture was not in my future, I worked my way up to and through college, including stints at the hamburger counter, selling shoes, and masquerading as the Easter Bunny at The Commons (formerly known as Sea-Tac Mall).

After college, I was hired as one of the first two female marketing representatives at the local IBM sales office.  While at IBM, I worked with manufacturing and distribution companies large and small, configuring hardware and software systems to meet their needs. I was on hand to witness the explosion of the personal computer, and remember when Microsoft was a small office just off Highway 520, and Bill Gates was still a serious geek.

After IBM, I worked for an international software company, JD Edwards (since purchased by PeopleSoft, and now Oracle).  At JD Edwards, I focused on the application side of the business, designing and implementing enterprise software systems for Fortune 100 companies.

Somewhere along the way I got married, and when my husband took a job in Cleveland, Ohio, I decided I better make the move, too.  My next career move was to Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, an international consulting company.  A Principal Consultant at Cap Gemini, I expanded beyond manufacturing and distribution, and managed a series of IT projects for a large, national bank.

Most recently I have returned to the Seattle area, and am now happily sharing my industry knowledge with students at Highline Community College.
