I love reading!!!!  Of course, being a teacher requires a lot of reading to keep up with new developments in psychology and teaching.  But for pleasure, I read fiction, biography and memoirs.  I tend not to re-read books, (so many books, so little time) but I'd read these books again without a doubt (and  I have re-read some of them).  I'd also read anything else by these authors (and I have).

I like hearing about books that I haven't read...so tell me about some of your favorites!

Here are my favorites, in no particular order (ok, there are more than 10, but it was hard to choose):

I Know This Much is True  by Wally Lamb

Another Country by James Baldwin

Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner

Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

Horse Heaven by Jane Hamilton

Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton

House of Mirth by Edith Wharton

Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood

Seventh Heaven by Alice Hoffman

Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins

I also love mysteries and the occasional spy novel. The more the book focuses on the psychology, inner life and relationships of the characters, the better.  I'm not really interested in reading about serial killers, however.  In this genre some of my favorite authors are:

Elizabeth George
John le Carre
Agatha Christie
P.D. James
Josephine Tey
Carol O'Connell
Martha Grimes
