About the Respiratory Care Program
The program consists of
- classroom
lectures to learn respiratory medical theory
- hands on
laboratory work to develop necessary skills
- hospital
clinical rotations to help put it all together

The program provides
- A team of classroom instructors,
clinical laboratory specialists and knowledgeable
clinical faculty
- A wide range of common and high tech respiratory medical
equipment
- State-of-the-art life support ventilators used in the
medical community
- Medical direction from a pulmonary physician at the
University of Washington medical teaching program
- An interactive Simulation Mannequin, in the clinical
laboratory, allows the students, in real time, to make realistic
clinical decisions
- A range of Clinical rotation sites and experiences in the
Seattle-Tacoma area
- Preparation
for the Registry Credential Exam given by the National Board of
Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Additionally, the Respiratory Care students, in conjunction with
Harborview Medical Center, plan and host a Respiratory Care
conference each spring.
The Respiratory Care program is recognized by The Seattle Times
as a “Notable Program” at Highline Community College. October 28,
2007.
