Instruction
at the Library: Developing Information Literacy
Our goal is to promote information literacy at Highline by working in
partnership with departmental faculty to develop and provide instruction that is
tailored to course requirements and assignments. These efforts reflect our
commitment to course-integrated, outcomes-based instruction, and assessment of
student learning.
When should you consider collaborating with us for an information literacy
session?
-
your students are not using
appropriate resources for their assignments
-
your students don't understand
citation standards or plagiarism issues
-
your students don't know how to
effectively search periodical databases or the catalog
-
your students are frustrated or
intimidated by their research assignments
What do you need to know about
scheduling a session with the library?
-
Call us x3232, email us:
refhelp@highline.edu, or visit us
at the desk to schedule a session.
-
Advance notice and detailed
information about your assignments and goals for the session will help us
provide the best possible instruction.
-
Classes can be held at the
Information Commons in the library or in your classroom.
-
Sometimes, the instructional
outcomes can best be met through a short series of classes. However,
it you think your class needs more than a few sessions, we can consider
creating a linked one-credit class (LIBR 105).
