ProQuest & Ebsco Durable/Persistent Links

Both ProQuest and Ebsco databases have a durable or persistent link feature that enables you to create hypertext links to specific articles within the databases.  You can then copy these hypertext links in your course web pages.  Before students can view the links, they are required to login to ProQuest or Ebsco with their student ID.  One benefit is that you do not have to get copyright permissions; copyright is handled as part of our subscription to these databases.

Linking to a Specific Article

1.  Find a full text article in ProQuest or Ebsco Academic Search Premier database.  Copy (control -c) the Article URL (ProQuest) or Persistent link to this record (Ebsco) from the citation part of the record, not the URL in the address box.  The link is just above the abstract or the full text.

2.  Type the title of the article in Front Page or other html editor and paste the web address to your web site.

Make sure the persistent or durable link has moe.ic.highline.edu

If students are on campus when viewing, they will not need to type Highline ID.

To access the article off campus: (copy the instructions below for students)

1. Click on the link to the article.

2.  Login to Highline with ID and last name.
