Welcome
to the ABE/GED/ESL
Department Home Page

For students who lack the academic skills needed to enroll in college-level courses, Highline offers developmental courses in reading, writing, study skills, and arithmetic. Courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), reading and writing are also available. Students usually need only a few courses to improve their academic skills before they may enroll in transfer or professional-technical classes.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
General Education Development (GED)
Students needing more extensive work to improve their basic academic skills may enroll in classes through the Adult Basic Education, (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), or High School Diploma programs.

English As A Second Language (ESL) - Immigrant and Refugee
The Adult Education program includes English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for immigrants, refugees, and non-English speaking United States citizens. These are offered each academic quarter at various locations, both on and off campus. A $25 tuition is charged for each class.
