Judy Eckland, Graduate - June 2008
"Judy is a self proclaimed "miracle of modern medicine" and
that's no exaggeration. This paralegal student, who will
graduate next week, has survived lupus, a fatal disease that
causes the body to turn against itself by killing healthy
tissue." "When Eckland was in junior high she was
diagnosed with cancer in her throat."
She graduated from the University of Washington with a
bachelor's degree in Pure Math and in Drama. In spring of 2008
Judy finished her Paralegal Plus Certificate and will continue
on to Seattle University to become a lawyer, working in Elder
Law.

Erika O'Donnell-Sullivan, Senior Grant Assistant
"The program at Highline gave me a great foundation for
continuing education and I am currently pursuing a Masters
degree in Psychology."
Cynthia Sharp, Legal Services Manager/Paralegal
"Highline's extensive Civil Procedure and Legal Research &
Writing requirements, combined with the 3-credit Ethics
requirement and the Professional Development seminars, all
provided a very solid base for my current position. From the
start of the program, there was a focus on the development of
substantive skills without losing sight of the ultimate goal of
obtaining employment in the legal field and the practical
considerations associated with the goal. As a result, by the end
of the program, in addition to substantive skills, I had several
writing samples, a resume that had been reviewed by a legal
placement specialist and an invaluable collection of job-hunting
tips and advice on how to put my skills to use. I was employed
within a month of completing the program and I am sure that much
credit goes to the excellent training I received at Highline."
