Why you need a
Washington State
Criminal Background History Check
Highline Community College’s Nursing Assistant program requires
that a Washington State Patrol Criminal History Check be completed
prior to acceptance into the NUR-A program. Clinical agencies
require this criminal history check to be completed prior to
attending a clinical site. Agencies may not allow students with a
history of certain convictions to attend clinical. In some
circumstances, this could mean you would be unable
to enter the nursing assistant program. If you have questions about
what types of convictions are reported as a result of the
Child/Adult Abuse Information Act, please call the Washington State
Patrol customer service at (360) 705-5100.
Go to
http://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/crimhist.htm to request a Criminal
History report. Submit a copy of this report when you turn in your
application. If you have not resided in Washington continuously for
the last three years, background checks in the states in which you
have lived must be obtained.
