I graduated from Highline Community
College Nursing program in 1995. I was commissioned as a
USAF flight nurse with the 446 Aeromedical Evacuation
Squadron, McChord AFB, WA shortly thereafter. I began my
civilian career in nursing as an office nurse in a family
practice. I received my BSN at UW Tacoma in 1999 and began
working at Highline Medical Center in the Emergency
Department almost a year later. In the fall of 2002 I
started my Master's program at Seattle Pacific University
and became a clinical instructor for Highline Community
College.
During the second year of my Master's
program I worked full time as a nursing faculty intern for
Highline Community College. Upon completion of my Master's
in June of 2004 I was hired as full time faculty here at
Highline. I deployed to Washington D.C. and St. Louis for
most of 2005, providing care for ill and injured service
members being air lifted throughout the United States. I
continue to maintain my commitment to the USAF Reserves as a
Flight Nurse and work per diem in the Emergency Department
at Highline Medical Center. I have always believed that
teaching is the best part of nursing and have enjoyed having
the opportunity to share my knowledge of, experience with,
and passion for the profession of nursing with my students,
patients and colleagues.
