II earned my associate degree in Nursing
from Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA in 1974,
which makes me “mature.” I earned both my BSN and MN from
the University of Washington-Tacoma. I’ve been a perinatal
nurse since 1978, and have special interests in the
midwifery model of maternity care, waterbirth and homebirth,
the emotional and spiritual journey to parenthood, "common
sense" parenting, and women's healthcare issues. And like
Maria, I’m terribly fascinated with transcultural nursing,
particularly in the areas of pregnancy, birth, and
parenting. And above all, I’m passionate about the
profession of Nursing, and I’m always eager to share my
commitment to this “artful caring science” with any and all
who are willing to listen. I have two amazing (and grown!)
sons--Mike and Jeff. I enjoy reading, writing, traveling,
camping, and indoor gardening.
