I am committed to community college nursing education as I
graduated from Tacoma Community College in 1986 with an
Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences and an ADN. My BSN
and Master’s in Nursing are from the University of
Washington, Tacoma. I have worked in medical-surgical
nursing, home health and hospice. My nursing passions are
Community Health, pain and symptom management, and death and
dying. I am fascinated with health care policy and access
with emphasis on diverse populations.
In 2006 and 2007 I spent a month in Uganda, Africa with
Medical Teams International providing humanitarian medical
aid. I went to Internally Displaced Persons camps,
population 20,000 to 30,000 people, where we provided the
only medical care available. I love experiences and learning
from international travel and experiencing other cultures
first hand.
Away from campus I enjoy travel, gardening, gourmet cooking
and spending time with friends and family.
