Using Excel - Copying Rosters from Instructor
Briefcase
In this procedure, you will use two programs - Internet Explorer and Excel
- to get your student names off the internet and into your Excel spreadsheet
for your gradebook. You will need to know how to Copy and Paste information
to complete this procedure. Copy from Instructor Briefcase
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Go to the Instructor Briefcase, located at
https://sec.highline.edu/faculty.
(Or click on "Instruction" in the College Intranet).
- Note that this process does not work in Firefox or Safari.
You need to use Internet Explorer.
- Type in your Employee ID number and PIN.
- Select the class.
- Use your mouse to highlight the table containing student ID, names and
phone numbers.
- Copy that information by going to the Edit menu and
selecting Copy (or your favorite method for copying).
Paste to your Excel spreadsheet/gradebook
- Open Excel.
- Click on the Paste button or go to the
Edit menu and select Paste.
- You'll need to make the columns wider to
accommodate the student information. Highlight the
column you want to widen and move your cursor to the right side of the
lettered cell.
- Your cursor should turn into a cross. Click down
on your mouse and drag the column to the width of your choice.
- Remember to save your Excel file; use a name that makes
sense, like the class name and time the section meets.
