Angel Workshop Descriptions

Introduction to Angel

This is a one-hour required class for using Angel at Highline. You will receive logon and access instructions when you take the class. This hands-on workshop will include a tour of Angel noting key differences between Bb and Angel. Updates on Highline procedures will also be described.

These are hands-on workshops, so you must have an account on Angel. You'll get access to Angel at your Orientation. You must complete the Orientation (above) to take these other classes

Angel Boot Camp I

Three workshops, plus some open lab time, in one three hour session. These workshops will get you up and running with all the key tools you'll need to teach your courses in Angel. This workshop includes Orientation, Putting Content in Your Angel Course, and Blackboard Conversion.

Angel Boot Camp II

Three workshops, plus some open lab time, in one three hour session. These workshops will get you up and running with all the key tools you'll need to teach your courses in Angel. This workshop includes Assignments and Grading, Tests and Assessments, and Discussion Forums. You must have completed orientation to participate in Boot Camp II.

Assignments and Gradebook

Wait. "Drop Box" is okay again? Yup. Learn how to use it to post, collect, and grade assignments in Angel. Then, check out how to use the gradebook to organize and review grades (and weight them in a way that makes sense)!

Blackboard Conversion

This hands-on workshop will cover all the steps for importing your previous Bb courses into Angel. Included will be working with imported content, and updates to test pools and assignments. Handout

Communication Tools

In this hands-on workshop you'll learn more about the new Course Mail feature, as well as Angel's Live Office Hours and Chat tools. We'll also take a look at community tools like the student web pages and Quick Poll tools.

Discussion Forums

Angel Discussion boards are similar to those in Blackboard, but boast some new and clever features, such as grading rubrics and "post-first", in which students have to start a new post before they can reply to others. Come learn all about it in this hands-on workshop.

Putting Content in Your Angel Course

This class covers the many different types of content you can add to your Angel course, including new features that were not available in Blackboard.

Tests and Assessments

Angel's Tests and Assessments provide many similar options to Blackboard. However, there are some notable changes to how you'll want to set up your tests. Check out this hands-on session for all the details.
