STUDENT FILE STORAGE
Students with current Instructional Computing lab accounts are granted 100MB of network storage space. This space is available from any IC lab, and will be mapped to the H: drive and My Documents on lab workstations. This will appear in My Computer as shown below, where 'username' is the individual student's username.

This space is to be used solely for class related materials, and is subject to the Highline Appropriate Use Policy and the General Policy on the use of Instructional Computing Facilities.
Students' files will be retained on IC servers only as long as they have current Instructional Computing lab accounts. Users who no longer have a current IC lab account will have their files removed two weeks into the following quarter.
While IC staff does its best to maintain the integrity of student file storage, we cannot guarantee the safety of student data. The network storage is provided as a convenience, and students are strongly encouraged to backup their files to portable or removable media. Students are also advised to acquire portable or removable media for large files or non-class related materials.
For portable or removable storage, Instructional Computing recommends USB "Thumb" or "Key" Drives, which are available for purchase from the Highline Bookstore, any major computer store, and many online retailers. In addition, ZIP drives and CD-R/CD-RW drives are available in some labs. Floppy drives are available in most labs as a last resort, but their use is no longer recommended.
