RETENTION OF INSTRUCTIONAL COMPUTING LOG FILES

Instructional Computing maintains system log files for the sole purpose of investigating technical difficulties or security breaches. 

Server logs will be retained for a maximum of 5 days, and less for some systems, depending on system activity and log capacities. 

Workstation logs and browser caches will be set to minimum possible sizes.  Workstation logs will not be retained whenever machines are re-imaged.

Instructional Computing logs are considered internal records of Instructional Resources, and requests for information from persons outside of Instructional Resources technical staff and management must follow the procedures outlined in the Instructional Resources Response to Requests for Records.
