ICHELP

WHAT ARE MY IC FACULTY/STAFF ACCOUNT USERNAME AND INITIAL PASSWORD?

For faculty and staff users of Instructional Computing resources in the ICC or online (such as Blackboard), your username will normally be the same as your office login and email address. This will consist of the first letter of your first name and the first seven (7) letters of your last name. If your last name is shorter than 7 letters, then we will use as many letters as are in your name. If your name is hyphenated or has other punctuation in it, the punctuation will not be used. For example:

  • Tom Jones would be tjones
  • Mikhail Barishnikov would be mbarishn
  • Kristin Smith-Thomas would be ksmithth
  • Margaret Cho would be mcho

In the event that another user already has the same username, you will be assigned an alternate username, and will be notified directly or through your supervisor.

For new accounts, your initial password will consist of the first four (4) letters of your last name, where the first lettter is capitalized, and the last four (4) numbers of your EID (Employee ID). If your last name is shorter than 4 letters, then your entire last name will be used. For example:

  • Tom Jones with ID# 987654321 would have the password Jone4321
  • Mikhail Barishnikov with ID# 123456789 would have the password Bari6789
  • Kristin Smith-Thomas with ID# 123121234 would have the password Smit1234
  • Margaret Cho with ID# 867005309 would have the password Cho5309

Please note that this is only a temporary password, and should be changed immediately. For ease of use, we recommend using the same password for IC resources as you use in your office, and change them at the same time (see How to change your IC passwords). If you have forgotten your password, you may contact the IC Help Desk at ichelp@highline.edu or 206/870-4880 to have your password reset. Please note that all passwords must comply with the Highline Community College Password Policy.

Please be aware that IC accounts are for your use only, and you are not to share your username and password with anyone else under any circumstances. You must also log out of your account each time you are done using a computer. As the owner of the account, you will be held responsible for any violations of IC rules which occur using your account, which could result in suspension of your account and loss of IC privileges.
