Internships
A two-quarter Internship (H SER 140/141 and 240/241) is required
for completion of the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Human
Services, and a one quarter internship is required for all Human
Services Certificates. Internships play a critical role in
preparing for employment in the field of social and human services
by beginning the process of accumulating experiences along with
one’s education.
Internships are available in work with youth,
families, victims of domestic violence, substance abuse treatment,
elder care, individuals with mental illness, people with developmental
disabilities, housing and many, many other areas of need. Internship
sites include an array of community-based non profit organizations,
and those sponsored by state, county, and municipal services.
A brief advising session can provide you with the
guidelines and resources for setting up your Human Services
internship. Internships must be set up and ready to begin prior to the
quarter enrolled.
