What Are Honors
Options?
HONORS OPTIONS are university-level projects/papers that high
achieving students complete during the course of a regular
HCC college-level class, in addition to the regular workload,
essentially turning the class into an "Honors" experience. The
project should enrich the learning process for the individual
student and, potentially, for the class as a whole. Students
negotiate the project idea and criteria with the instructor, fill
out the
Option Form, and complete the project during the quarter
according to the negotiated schedule. (Students must complete the
the class with a grade of 3.5 or better in order to receive the
Honors designation on their transcripts.)
Honors Option projects should be negotiated with the instructor
prior to mid-term.
Students intending to graduate as Honors Scholars must complete at
least one Honors Option project in Humanities (5 credits), one in
Social Science (5 credits), and one in Math/Science (5 credits).
