The English Department presents students with opportunities
to develop strong writing skills appropriate to academic,
vocational and personal demands by offering a variety of writing
and literature courses. When students have completed English 101
and other college-level English courses, they will be able to
think critically and creatively, and write effectively.
Written communication is central to all occupations and aspects
of life. Excellent communication skills, writing and verbal, are
top requirements for employers. Students are advised to take
English courses early in their academic career because it will
improve communication skills for other classes.
