How is it different from Highline Online?

Washington Online is a cooperative effort by the community
college system to provide courses necessary to complete an AA degree
using the Internet.
- Courses are offered over the Internet and do not
meet on campus.
- Since you don't have to be
in class at a certain time, you can fit your coursework into your
schedule.
- However, most courses have multiple deadlines throughout
the quarter and are not self-paced.
- Like other online courses, you will need to be highly
self-motivated, and learn well from reading.
You will need an email account and web access for these classes.
A WAOL technology fee will be charged for this class.
WAOL is not a
college and doesn't register students, grant credit or give grades.
- Your course may be "hosted" by a different community college
in the state of Washington, and the instructor may be from that
college.
- Students in WAOL courses are
subject to the policies and procedures that govern student conduct,
disciplinary procedures and procedures for resolving conflicts
regarding student conduct which are in place at the enrolling
college.
However, courses show up on your transcript as Highline courses,
and are considered Highline credits.
- Search for "WAOL" classes in the
Quarterly Schedule
- Register
online, just like you would with regular Highline
classes. Please note the following:
- You will need an email account and web access for these classes.
- WAOL courses start on a different day than Highline courses.
- WAOL courses open before the classroom instruction
begins.
- WAOL classes often start before
Highline classes do. Check the schedule on the WAOL web site
to confirm your start date.
- A WAOL technology fee will be charged for this class.
- Purchase your textbooks from the WAOL Bookstore. Please note
that books ordered on-line
take 3-7 days to be delivered.
- Log into WAOL Blackboard and enter your username and password to
get started in your course. WAOL instructors will not contact you
to give you initial
instructions involving how to get started with your WAOL course.
- After you login to BlackBoard you will need to enter your email
address.
See the instructions for details.
