The following information is presented to help clarify the scope of the work associated with maintaining Highlines web activities. The following position titles and descriptions are responsibilities that will, most likely, be folded into current positions. There may be some instances where new employees will be added. The committees assumption is that as responsibilities are added to a current position, workload shift will need to take place such as adding some part-time back-up, or tasks will be identified that will no longer be done.
It should also be noted that much of this work is already being done. Using the following designations and sharing this information across campus will clarify responsibilities and improve communication.
A web coordinator is responsible for the portal pages of the assigned web presence for the college the Public Web, the Campus Intranet and the Direct Instruction Web.

A web manager position is responsible for the design and technical administration of an organizational units (administration, institutional advancement, instruction, presidents office and student services) collection of web sites. This position spans the web presences for that organizational unit (public, intranet, direct instruction).

A web author is responsible for implementing the web site for a specific department. The scope of this position is typically one department. The position may or may not produce the content, but consults with the department coordinator/manager to effectively implement web technologies in that department. Each department could have a different web author for each web presence.

The Vice-President, or designee, for each organizational unit of campus assigns the responsibilities of Web Manager, Web Author, and Web Support within each organizational unit.
