We
Are...
Students at Highline Community
College who are taking an Interpersonal Communication class to achieve
a connection with and make a positive influence on high school students
while we improve our own interpersonal communication skills. Once a
week we meet in the library at Federal Way High School and tutor
students in a group called EAGLE VISION. |

In
Conclusion ...
We
feel that this project has brought about a sense of camaraderie between
the group members. We have enjoyed working with our team as much as
we've enjoyed working with the students at the high school. We feel
that we have achieved the goals we set for ourselves, in that we have
demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and self-confidence,
thereby reinforcing those qualities in the teens. We have self-disclosed
to encourage them to reciprocate, and they did. We have achieved these
goals by collectively as a team using Nexting ,being cognizant of Stereotyping,
Stress Management ,Emotional Support Challenge ,and Self-Disclosure
to Encourage Interpersonal Communication, We have supported the teens
commitment to achieving their own goals by being there for them, and
helping them to recognize and identify the resources available to them.
Overall, we have left them with the knowledge that college can be a
very positive experience.
As far as the impact this project has had on the teens, we believe that
we have shown them understanding and respect for their personal uniqueness.
Not only did we help them with their studies, but we were able to answer
specific questions they had about college, and allayed some apprehensions.
