We Are...

Once a week we meet in the library at Federal Way High School and tutor students in a group called EAGLE VISION.

Our Group Goals...
• Improve the teens perception of college as a positive experience.

• Help teens recognize the resources that are available to them.

• Encourage the teen use of interpersonal communication skills by demonstrating those
skills in our   communications with them.

• Support them in their commitment to achieving THEIR goals.

• Reinforce self-confidence and self-esteem in the teens by demonstrating our own
   self-confidence.

• Through our self-disclosure we will encourage them to reciprocate with their own
   self-disclosure.

• We will focus on five concept themes that will allow us to achieve these
   goals...

    1. Nexting
    2. Stereotyping
    3. Stress Management
    4. Emotional Support Challenge
    5. Self-Disclosure to Encourage Interpersonal Communication

In Conclusion ...

We feel that this project has brought about a sense of camaraderie between the group members. We have enjoyed working with our team as much as we've enjoyed working with the students at the high school. We feel that we have achieved the goals we set for ourselves, in that we have demonstrated interpersonal communication skills and self-confidence, thereby reinforcing those qualities in the teens. We have self-disclosed to encourage them to reciprocate, and they did. We have achieved these goals by collectively as a team using Nexting ,being cognizant of Stereotyping, Stress Management ,Emotional Support Challenge ,and Self-Disclosure to Encourage Interpersonal Communication, We have supported the teens commitment to achieving their own goals by being there for them, and helping them to recognize and identify the resources available to them. Overall, we have left them with the knowledge that college can be a very positive experience.

As far as the impact this project has had on the teens, we believe that we have shown them understanding and respect for their personal uniqueness. Not only did we help them with their studies, but we were able to answer specific questions they had about college, and allayed some apprehensions.
