Introduction to Philosophy
 
COURSE DESCRIPTION

 The aim of this course is to introduce students to the nature of philosophy and the activity of philosophizing. Students will examine specific problems in philosophy. While emphasis will be on extant issues and problems in philosophical discourse, issues of contemporary social and philosophical import will also be addressed

 COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • Identify and discuss the main theories of ethics.

 

  • Identify and discuss the major problems in philosophy of religion.

 

  • Identify and discuss the major theories of knowledge.

 

  • Identify and discuss some of the major problems of metaphysics.
