Reserve Requests

Reserve Guidelines for
Highline Community College Library

Faculty may place high-demand library materials or special items such as personal books and copies of articles from outside sources to use as supplementary resources for their students on “reserve”.  We offer two types of “Reserve”.

Electronic Reserves
Reprints (journal articles, book chapters, course readings and other works with less than 30 pages) provided by the instructor.  These items are electronically scanned in pdf format and accessed via the web. Electronic Reserves allow students to access readings from home.

Regular Reserves
Faculty may place books (personal or belonging to the library), journal articles, book chapters, other miscellaneous outside readings, or other items on reserve for their students to access for a specified length of time.
These “Reserve” items are located at the Plaza Circulation counter, and are available to students to check out.

Media Reserves
Faculty may also place personal or department-owned copies of legally-acquired tapes on reserve in the Library. The Library adheres strictly to current copyright law governing videotape copying, distribution and use. Faculty may also request that videotapes and other media materials, currently in the library Media Collection, be placed on course reserve. These “Reserve” items are also located at the Plaza Circulation counter, and are available to students to check out.
