 Prerequisites
  • Two or four-year degree or significant industry experience is preferred.
  • See your faculty adviser for specific details.

  • Students must achieve a minimum grade of 2.0 in each core course.
  • Not all classes are offered every quarter or at night.
 AAS Learning Outcomes 
  1. Prepare for employment as a personal trainer by demonstrating effective job acquisition skills.
  2. Prepare to successfully complete the American College of Sports Medicine’s and National Strength and Conditioning Association’s personal trainer certifications.
  3. Educate clients by translating scientific health and fitness knowledge into understandable explanations.
  4. Evaluate information obtained from client to set appropriate goals, limit risk and design effective exercise programs.
  5. Teach safe, effective and individualized exercise programs for diverse populations.
  6. Communicate persuasively to motivate clients and develop effective sales and marketing strategies.
  7. Promote a healthy work place by modeling professional conduct and ethical behavior.
  8. React appropriately to fitness-related injuries and medical emergencies.
