Polysomnography Technology  

Special enrollment requirements

Special admission criteria apply to the Polysomnography  Technology program.  For application and enrollment deadlines, contact the program manager, Nicki Bly, at nbly@highline.edu

Accreditation

Curriculum has been developed according the Association of Polysomnographic Technologists (APT) suggested guidelines.  Accreditation will be applied for through the Association of Polysomnographic Technologists (APT).


Program Options:

Polysomnography Technology
Associate of Applied Science (AAS)   98  credits

Graduates will learn specific job skills as well as communication skills, computational skills, applied sciences, computer literacy, human relations and social science. The AAS can be completed in seven consecutive quarters with full-time attendance.

Polysomnography Technology
Certificate                                                     43 credits

Important Notes:

1 Support courses may be taken prior to or during the quarter designated.  Please contact the program manager for details regarding which classes have this option.

2 In conjunction with the on-line lecture classes there will be lab experience and clinical internships provided at various sleep laboratories in Washington State through a consortium agreement between Edmonds Community College, Highline Community College, Olympic Community College, and Tacoma Community College

3 This course must be completed before certificate of completion is awarded.  It is recommended it be taken prior to entry into the program.

...Certificate and AAS programs emphasize preparation in specific job skills required for entry-level employment.

...Not all classes are offered every quarter or at night.

...Students must carry liability and personal accident insurance with payment due during the first and fourth quarters of the program. Maintenance of CPR certification is required throughout the course of the program.

...Taking courses outside of respiratory care while in the program is extremely challenging due to heavy load and irregular schedule.

...Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from clinical courses in the hospitals. Students are also required to purchase approved uniforms for clinical courses.
