Students
Highline Community College’s Community & Employment Services is
committed to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the
community, workplace and in higher education. CES currently offers
two options for students who are seeking further education and
training – ACHIEVE and ACHIEVE Transition.
ACHIEVE
Programs such as ACHIEVE provide post secondary educational
opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in a
wide variety of campus and community based programs at Highline
Community College. ACHIEVE offers courses in four major areas to
prepare students for the workplace:
-
Employment Readiness
-
Independent Living
-
Self-Advocacy
-
Essential Skill Building
ACHIEVE staff also work with and support students who are interested
in credit bearing and certificate programs and help navigate the wide
array of training options available at Highline Community College.
ACHIEVE Transition
Another component within ACHIEVE is
ACHIEVE Transition, a
post- secondary option specifically for transition students. Students
participate in a variety of classes, both credit and non credit, as
well as community based work experiences and internships and exit the
program with paid employment.
Access Services
Community & Employment Services works in collaboration with the
Access Services
Department, offering specific support services for students with
disabilities to ensure access and accommodation to campus programs,
classes and facilities.
