Employers
Highline Community College Community & Employment Services has
thirty years experience creating successful job matches. Our success
rate tells the story. Forty six percent of the individuals supported
by CES who are employed have been in their current jobs for over 5
years. How do we achieve this? CES staff consult with employers to
provide job analyses, orientations, and personal coaching in order
to obtain and maintain a successful job match. CES services are at
no cost to the employer and meet the reasonable accommodation
standards required by the American with Disabilities Act.
Employers may also post job opportunities
using our online database available through
Workforce
Development Services.
Screening
CES staff work with students to assess their skills, interests and
abilities. These assessments are conducted through on-campus
instruction and community-based job experiences. Because we are part
of a community college we have the advantage of linking students to
additional training opportunities if students need fine-tuning of
their skills. For those who are employment ready, we move on to the
next step.
Job match
Once the student has been assessed, CES staff work to obtain
employment positions with organizations where job responsibilities
match the student’s skills set. CES evaluates the environment,
supports, and tasks of any potential job in an effort to make a good
match for an organization’s business and culture.
Placement
Once you’ve selected a student for your position, CES staff can assist
during the initial orientation and training. Once the basic job skills
are acquired and the employee is comfortable in their new role, we
will continue to be available to provide long-term support.
Long-term follow along
CES is successful when our candidates and employers succeed. We check
in regularly and are available to provide training support when
changes in the work site require new skills. We will continue to team
with you and your employee throughout their employment with your
company. That’s part of our commitment to you and to our student.
