The Highline Small Business Development Center [The SBDC] is a resource for one-to-one, free, confidential, counseling, research, resources and technical assistance for small and medium-size business owners, managers and entrepreneurs in southwest King County, Washington.  

The SBDC's mission is to support local business owners in their efforts to build profitable businesses, strengthen the local business community and stimulate regional economic growth. 

Business Counseling

Our full-time Business Development Specialist, Mr. Zev Siegl, provides confidential, one-on-one counseling to assist small businesses owners with business planning, analyzing financial data, improving marketing techniques, starting a business, and expanding, stabilizing, selling or buying a business venture. The SBDC does not charge clients for the services it provides.

Business owners are encouraged to call the Highline's SBDC at 206 878-3710, ext 5151, or visit our office at 23835 Pacific Hwy South. If you prefer, we would be happy to arrange an initial meeting at your place of business.  Zev Siegl and each client work together to fulfill the unique business needs of the business. 

Research  
The SBDC offers research to help your company plan for its future, adapt to changes in the market place of identify problem areas.  Research includes local, regional and national data, industry financial standards, industry trends, associations, trade shows, publications, new market channels, export/import information.

Training
The SBDC offers training, including seminars, workshops and contract training to assist business owners and operators with specific skills/topics necessary to maintain or expand a successful business.  These educational programs are coordinated with the Center for Extended Learning at Highline Community College.

Resources
The SBDC has a variety of resources available at no cost to small business owners and entrepreneurs to assist them in operating a small business such as:

  • Informative printed handouts, booklets and CD’s
  • Personalized counseling
  • Files of information by topic

The SBDC is well equipped to serve as a referral source to other resources in the greater Seattle area and beyond. If the Highline SBDC is not the best resource to meet your needs we will do our best to put you in touch with another organization that would be a better match.

How We Are Funded
The SBDC's primary support comes from the South King County Economic Development Initiative (SKCEDI), a partnership of the cities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Tukwila, and Federal Way with additional support from King County, the Port of Seattle, and Highline Community College.
