Removing Students

This how-to covers removing students from your BlackBoard site.

 

Students who drop your course are not automatically removed from the roster in your BlackBoard site. To remove a student:

  1. Verify that they have officially dropped your class, using Instructor Briefcase
  2. In Blackboard go to the Control Panel for that course.
  3. In the User Management section of the Control Panel (top right corner), click on Remove User.
  4. Search for the student, either by last name or by userid.
    • A student userid will be the first 7 letters of their first name, combined with the first 7 letters of their last name.
  5. When you find the student, click on the box to the left of their name. Type "Yes," using a capital "Y" in the box above the Submit button, then click on Submit.

 

Note: this action permanently removes the student's enrollment and all records. You can choose not to remove the student from your course, and simply ignore that entry. Your Instructor Briefcase roster will not be affected.
