BlackBoard at Highline

Using Timed Exams

If you set a time limit on exams, Blackboard will not stop the student when the time is exceeded. What is your policy when students exceed the time?

There are several ways to address this:

Write a quiz policy into your syllabus. Here is an example.

Quiz timing - Your quizzes are timed and you are limited to 15 minutes, about twice the time generally needed. BlackBoard will not stop you if you exceed the time allotted. However, it does alert me. If you exceed the time allotted by more than 15 seconds, you will get a 0 on the quiz.

If you choose to allow them to re-take the quiz, go to Control Panel, Gradebook, go to the student's name, click to get to the student's grade for that quiz and click on the little lock. It will ask if you want to reset, you can, and he or she can start the quiz again.
