The following seeds have been purchased and plants may be available for purchase at the plant sale--depending on what the students choose to grow.  Descriptions & photos,  compliments of Parkseeds and Nichol's Garden Nursery.

(Brandywine Hybrid)

Amish heirloom with distinct flavor, grown since 1885. 10-14 oz. dark red fruit with pinkish tender flesh

(Sweet Baby Girl Hybrid)

Cheery tomato type. Dark red fruit. Plants are long fruiting with a short growing habit (they shouldn't get tall).

(Pear  Hybrid

Heirloom plant developing cluster of pear-shaped fruits that measure 1.5" to 2" long and 1" across. Mild tasting. Kids love them!

 An excellent plant bred for container gardening or for those that don't want to wrestle with a larger plant. Great for eating and cooking

 Thriving in the heat of southern summers but widely-adapted, it forms a 4-foot bush hung with 2-ounce fruits in papery brown husks. When the greenish fruits turn pale yellow, the husks begin to shed, signaling harvest

(Bell pepper, North Star )

 This is a prolific producer with medium sized peppers. Ripens to red on a 20-inch plant

 This is a medium hot pepper that produces well.

PUMPKINS & GOURDS
Pumpkin
(Autumn Gold Hybrid)

 This is a small pumpkin has 7- to 10-inch fruits are lightly creased, with smooth skin and a very uniform color. They turn golden very early in their growth, then mature to a deep, glossy orange that seems to typify the mellow tones of autumn.

(Howden Hybrid)

 These classic deep orange pumpkins are beautifully formed, somewhat egg-shaped 20- to 30-pound fruit.

CUCUMBERS
Sweeter Yet Cucumber

Burpless type with long slim fruit that is thin skinned. Very resistant to diseases. Vines can reach up to 70 inches - Great for trellises.

   
SQUASH AND ZUCCHINI
Papaya Pear Squash

 Unique shape and fast heavy production. Bright yellow, pear shaped fruit are best harvested at about 3.5".

 The Best Space-Saver Yet!
Nearly spineless fruit harvest easily and taste delicious!

Winter squash
 (Early Butternut)

 Extremely early with abundant yield. Stores well.

OTHER EDIBLES
Artichoke

Extra vigorous, producing 6-8 artichokes the first season.

Bush Bean
(Straight 'N Narrow)

 When mature will produce a new crop every three days. Great served whole.

Pepper Fruit Basket Hybrid
Capsicum annuum (A)

Good for container gardens - up to 12" tall and 2 feet wide.  Peppers are about 5" long with 4-lobed sweet bells.  It has a nice peppery bite with a hint of fresh apple.
