On
this page, you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked
questions that occur during our Annual Plant Sale. Should you have
questions that are not listed here, feel free to contact either Donn, Gerry,
or Sabine.
J
Q: How much does this plant cost?
A: We have several different plants in all
sizes and shapes. We estimate the price of each plant based on the size of
the pot it is in -
2" - 3" pots sell for 25¢ each (or
4/$1.00 J)
4" pots sell for 50¢ each (or
2/$1.00)
5" up to , but not including 1-gallon pots sell for 75¢ each, and
1-gallon pots will sell for $1.00
each
2-gallon pots will sell for only
$2.00 each
Sometimes, we have odd shapes and sizes or even unusual plants. These will be marked with a price. There are also
several plants in the greenhouse that are not for sale. This year, they
will have stickers that will say, "This plant not for sale."
Q: What kind of plant is this?
A: Hopefully, all of the
plants will or should have plastic tags inserted into each pot. Some of
the faculty, staff, students, and volunteers will be able to answer these
questions for you. We will also have a binder listing the different plants (with pictures)
available. You can also find
information on this web site by clicking on one of the links at the bottom of
this page.
Q: What do we do with the old
pots? Do we take them back?
A: We rinse and sterilize and
reuse old pots that come back to us and also pots that have been donated. Yet,
we have found that the small pots are way too much work. We prefer to buy
new when it comes to 2" and 4" pots. Gallon pots are more than
appreciated. We
wish to thank everybody who has donated pots this year. It's been a great
help.
Q: What do we do with the
revenue from the Plant Sale?
A: The reason we keep the
prices low is not to make a profit but to perpetuate funds to purchase supplies
and seeds needed for the next year. Your purchases help to continue this fun
event.
