"Contemporary Voices"

A series of
discussions on the topic of:
"Opening Doors"
Colloquy means conversation.
Each Wednesday during the quarter, we will have special
speakers coming to our sessions to tell their own personal
stories of "opening doors" and to discuss your options with
you. Come engage the experts in regard to choices that you
will/must make for doors to open. Colloquy presentations
are open to the public.
In order to receive credit, you must:
1) be registered for Honors 101or
Humanities 101,
2) view the presentations, and
3) must participate in the
Blackboard
discussion. (If you miss a presentation you will be able
to listen to it from this website by clicking on the name of
the speaker.)

12:10-1:15PM, Bldg. 7: Jillian Bellamy, former HCC
Running Start student, now
an International Baccalaureate student abroad, returns to
talk about her current school in Swaziland.
April 30:
12:10-1:15PM, Bldg. 7:
Kiana Hayes, HCC graduate, UWT Interdisciplinary Arts
and Sciences major, with emphasis in
Self and Society,
focusing on Race, Class, and Gender issues, will talk
about her
amazing journey to help us celebrate
"UNITY THROUGH DIVERSITY WEEK." Her
remarks are
entitled
"Achievement through Systemic-Diversity."
May 5 NOTE DATE & TIME CHANGE:
1:20-2:30 PM, Bldg. 7:
WA State Supreme Court,
as part of their visit/session on our campus, will
explain
what "doors opened" for them to pursue a career in the law
and on the Court, and will answer student questions.
May 14:
12:10-1:15PM, Bldg.7: Stephanie
Ragubeer, former HCC student leader and
Honors Program participant, and recent UW graduate, will
return to talk about transferring, choosing a major, and
staying competitive before she heads off for a trip to
India.

Risa Glaze, current HCC student and WAVE scholarship
winner, and trained mental health interventionist, will
speak
about the stigma of mental health issues and the process of
recovery.
May 28:
12:10-1:15PM, Bldg.7:
Kim Trinh, HCC Alum, Whitman College
Graduate
with Honors, and future UW graduate student will talk about
moving from being a student to becoming a scholar, from
acting like a success to believing in oneself.
