Facilities
Highline College is unique among Washington state community colleges in
that it offers a comprehensive program in the three and two dimensional arts. Courses such
as sculpture, three-dimensional design, mixed media and ceramics are taught within studio
settings specifically designed to accommodate them.
The Ceramics facilities include hand building and wheel throwing rooms
(22 electric wheels, 1 electric kick wheels ), 36" slab
roller, complete glaze lab, 4 electric kilns and a fenced, outdoor kiln area which
includes a 64 cubic foot down draft kiln and raku kiln. (See

Photography at Highline is a black and white, non-commercial
program. Basic and advanced camera operation and darkroom techniques are offered to the
serious art student as well as the general interest student.
Painting and drawing utilize a large studio space designed
for still life and figure studies.
The ceramics, sculpture and
photography studios are all equipped with professional ventilation systems.
