The Math Resource Center hosts weekly workshops presented by
Highline faculty and staff members. The hour-long workshops cover
timely math topics.
Problem:
If Dick is three years older than twice Jane’s age, and Dick is
carrying twenty pounds of a 40% Cashew nut mix as he is fencing
off a rectangular pasture against a straight river, while Jane
is parachuting through the air twice as fast as Dick with a 20
foot board cut into two pieces and $8,000 to invest at 5% and 9%
respectively, how long will it take them to finish their word
problem assignment for their math class if they work together?
Answer: Attend Wednesday's workshop on setting up work
problems, and it may save you a lot of time. Don't worry
about Dick and Jane.
Thursday, May 15, 12-1pm:
